Easy Way to Start Saving Energy

The use of Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs) as a replacement for traditional incandescent is gaining widespread acceptance.

Today’s CFL bulbs are superior to their original counterparts and warrant everyone's consideration.  Start by installing in light fixtures that are left on the most.

Carbon Footprint Accounting

Greenhouse gases* are now considered air pollutants under the Clean Air Act and subject to regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  It now remains to been seen what form the regulation will take and when it will occur.  A bill to regulate carbon emissions is pending in Congress and it may soon cost money to emit any GHG.

Companies may soon be required to limit or reduce emissions by cleaning up their facilities or buying greenhouse gas emission offsets if available.  Many public companies are already inventorying greenhouse gas emissions, trying to find ways to reduce the emissions, or sell or acquire greenhouse gas emissions credits in the marketplace.  Voluntary emission exchanges such as the Chicago Climate Exchange already trade securitized emissions credits.  Are you preparing yourself?

*Primarily gases that trap the heat of the sun in the Earth's atmosphere, producing the greenhouse effect.  The two major greenhouse gases are water vapor and carbon dioxide. Other greenhouse gases include methane, ozone, chlorofluorocarbons, and nitrous oxide.  All are eventually quantified in their CO2 equivalent
